Okains bay is situated on the north side of Banks Peninsula 80 minutes from Christchurch and 20 minutes from Akaroa.
Settled in the 1840's by whalers, farmers and timber-millers it still has many early cottages, historic homesteads and public buildings.
Much of its history is hsown in the the nationally acclaimed Okains Bay Maori and Colonial Museum.
